Conference

The 2011 Talloires Network Leaders Conference will be held in Madrid, Spain at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

The Talloires Network Leaders Conference will bring together higher education leaders from every corner of the world: rectors, vice-chancellors, presidents, ministers of education, regional network leaders, as well as philanthropic leaders. Together they will chart a course for the future of the global movement for civic engagement, community outreach, and social responsibility in higher education.

Over three days, the conference will explore how to deepen the impact of community engagement in the higher education sector. Several internationally renowned speakers will share their ideas on citizenship, the role of universities in tackling pressing social needs, partnership with the NGO sector, and more. Leaders of major philanthropic organizations will also join us. Session topics will cover technology and online organizing, creating policy environments to support community engagement, program design and evaluation, community partnerships, and more.

Plenary sessions and breakout sessions will be organized around these subjects. In addition, there will be innovative formats for sessions where participants can share the work of their universities, engage with their peers in various regions around the world, and provide direct feedback to the network on membership needs.  We will also have several informal receptions and ample time for networking.
